Are You a Confident Conversation Starter, or Are You Striving to Become One?

Small-talk or "ice-breaking", when done well, creates a powerful impact on one's interactions and life. Mastering the art of small-talk can make one become and appear more confident, personable, as well as a great communicator and conversationalist.

The ability to engage and connect on an introductory conversation is especially important in professional settings - it elevates one's networking skills, establishes rapport, and opens doors to extraordinary opportunities. This is true no matter if you are building meaningful relationships in-person, or virtually.

In this episode, we provide tips and insights on how to do just that!

In this episode, you will discover how Georgie suggests to list all the things that can be said about the environment and find one that can be used to start a conversation. This practice can help individuals become better at initiating conversations.

Also in this podcast episode Angela and Georgie explain how mirroring can tremendously help in building a rapport as well as establishing closeness even with strangers. Georgie used a fantastic example that she has researched in her work - the late Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's ability to use mirroring allowed her to connect with individuals in the shortest amount of time, resulting in a feeling of warm connection, and also made her appear to be a great conversationalist.

Mirroring is a communication technique in which one person reflects back the thoughts, feelings, and language of the other person. By mirroring another person's language, you can gain a deeper understanding of their perspective, make the person feel seen and build rapport by demonstrating that you are actively listening and trying to understand their point of view.
